Email Security

CASA/GAL staff and volunteers often communicate about work-related matters via email; however, sending information electronically is risky especially when confidential information is contained in messages. Unauthorized recipients can access and read unprotected information contained in email correspondence.

Encryption is one way to protect sensitive information sent via email. Think of encryption as locking a message and then only those with a “key” or code can view the message. Both sender and receiver must install the same software on their computers to encrypt (lock) and decrypt (unlock) messages properly.

After exploring various encryption options for the network, National CASA recommends Two Fish—free encryption software available for download from the internet. National CASA has created a user guide to help explain how Two Fish software should be installed and used. CASA/GAL staff and volunteers can use this software to ensure the safest exchange of sensitive information.

Note: National CASA does not provide technical support for Two Fish installation, troubleshooting or performance issues.
