Alma Powell is the chair of the board of America's Promise Alliance, whose mission is to mobilize people from every sector of American life to build the character and competence of youth. She also chairs the advisory board for the Pew Center for Civic Change. In addition to her many service-minded activities, Powell has authored two children's books, My Little Wagon and America's Promise.

Steve L. Robbins, PhD

A powerful storyteller, Steve Robbins has an unmatched ability to inspire people even while disrupting the way they think about the world. Born in Vietnam, Robbins immigrated to the United States with his mother when he was 5 years old. He worked through the challenges of poverty and discrimination that he faced growing up and today shares his insights on issues of diversity, inclusion and the power of caring with audiences around the country. Robbins’s talks and workshops are filled with intriguing stories, laugh-out-loud humor and a keen understanding of the human condition.

Robbins is president of S.L. Robbins & Associates, a consulting services firm specializing in the areas of diversity, inclusion and cultural competency. He recently authored the book Teachable Moments: Short Stories to Spark Diversity Dialogue.
