Conference Theme and Goals

The theme of the 2008 conference is “How Are the Children?” This is not only an important question for each of us to ask, it is also one that CASA and guardian ad litem volunteers are uniquely qualified to answer.

Attendees of the 2008 National CASA Conference will gain a greater understanding of their role in improving the condition of abused and neglected children and obtain tools to further advocate for permanence to stop the cycle of abuse.

Conference Goals:

  • Establish Awareness: Understand the current condition of the children that we serve.
  • Strengthen Volunteer Voices: Build skills and acquire tools that will enhance your ability to speak up for abused and neglected children.
  • Understand Public Policy and Reform Efforts: Increase your awareness of child welfare public policy issues and reform efforts on the national level.
  • Develop Inclusive Practices: Expand your knowledge and skills while exploring practices that enable us to better serve all children in our communities and continue the journey towards cultural competency.
  • Renew Your Commitment: Fortify your spirit and resolve to effect change through talking with and listening to peers and presenters.
